Families & Groups

I'm lucking out lately - mastering the art of walking between the raindrops (or rain showers I should say)!! If there isn't a dark cloud looming, its either just passed us or we are just ahead of it. I haven't had to reschedule any sessions lately!

These two little guys gave me a run! They were so funny - avoiding me like the plague!! I still try to surprise them with my ooh's and ahh's and even tried "I saw Barney!" but they were onto me! Big brother was a huge help at wrangling the rascals and I got some cute shots of the three of them together.

Jodie, thanks for calling me!! I hope you like these!!

Big brother's got a cute girlfriend - I promised him one here for his facebook page!

You see this cute couple......I made them laugh telling them to remember their wedding night.....but wanna see what they started.......

THIS!!!!!!!

24 people in this FUN family!! I had so much awesome cooperation it made my job incredibly easy. I was in and out quickly so they could get back to their family time. Thanks for calling on me Linda....you've got a wonderful family and I hope I captured that for you!

I'm closing this post with a heavy heart...my best friend's dad lost his battle with cancer today and I'm exhasted already from the tears I shed for Diane's aching heart. Diane has been my best friend and sister since we were five. We always did everything together so it was no surprise when we both wanted to attend the same voc school after graduation. It took us several states away and my parents and Mr. C drove us there in a van packed with necessities. While there Diane sowed her oats and met lots of boys while I pined away missing home like crazy. Mr. C was MY penpal while we were there and I was Diane's answering sevice passing messages between the two as she was always off making memories (I envied her that). I never forget how much his letters meant to me...telling me stories that would make me laugh so the days until we returned home again were easier for me to get through. It touched me that he wasn't to busy to send me those notes....I'll never forget it! I wasn't miserable there......just homesick.

Mr. C was a man of God and very proud of his children. I'm glad he's no longer suffering...I only hope my shoulders are strong enough to help my friend through this loss.

My friend Peg is famous for knowing quotes and quick phrases, she posted this in a note to me this morning. I loved it so I'm posting here: "What the caterpillar calls the end of the world....the Lord calls the butterfly". Rest In Peace Mr. C. You will be greatly missed.

Ally's lucky shot......

I emailed Ally yesterday when it looked like we'd get some more rain....told her the session was on and I'd shoot her in rainboots if I had to! Well, the sky was funny....sunny with rain...which means there was a rainbow looming somewhere! I spotted it, noticed the field of flowers on the side of the road....handed her my umbrella and told her to do her thing.....I think its cute....maybe its just the excitement of having captured a cute girl at the end of a rainbow! A lucky shot....you can barely see a double rainbow there!!
Isn't she lovely......so brave to lay there in the grass while the raindrops fell....

Thank you for calling me, Ally -you're excitement about your last year and looking towards the future is so sweet...Best Wishes!!! Hope you like them!
Enjoy!

Steve & Valerie

Steve and I have been friends for years....I was thrilled to get an email from Valerie asking me to photograph their wedding. I had to think about it as I was still just doing portraits and debating if weddings were something I could handle the pressure of. Well, a year later and here we are with their wedding photos on my blogspot!!!! It was so much FUN!!!! I saw lots of faces I hadn't seen in some time and these two were awesome at posing for me!

Here are a few from their day.....

I loved this old door....the photo is awesome in color but I just had to play with it a bit....

the weather cooperated beautifully.....

The location was a perennial farm in Saco....if you're interested in having your wedding here, please contact me FMI...the owners of the property are so awesome...I'm happy to pass on their information!!
This was taken just after the ceremony ended.......their first few minutes alone....well almost....I was barking orders for them to kiss occasionally!

Congratulations Steve & Val....Thanks for asking me to photograph your day!!!!!!!!
Enjoy!!

A few words....lots of photos!!!

Taking a break from the families and seniors this week, I had sessions with two babies yesterday!!

First, you've seen this sweetie here before when I was there to help welcome her into this world!! She's four months old now and sooo lovely!! We had milky skies that promised rain but it held off just long enough for me to offer part of her session outside!! The brightness was still too much for her little eyes, she just grinned with her eyes closed!!

Is she all kinds of sweetness or what?

Next was a newborn! Her mom called me inquiring about sessions and when I read that she was 14 days old I knew I needed to get her into the studio ASAP!! The ultimate time for newborn sessions is up to ten days. I've found that even at 14 days, they are still willing to be molded when sleeping....but we didn't get any sleepy shots....just bright eyed.......

and some in the comfort of daddy's arms......
here's one to warm your heart.......daddy with both his girls.......
and I got this shot of mom whispering sweetness into her ear.... a chocolate conversion to show off that GREAT GRIN!!!

My cousins are visiting from across the country and my aunt asked me if I'd stop in to take a photo of them before they are gone again. I obliged but the only night I could make it in was a rainy one....we hoped it would stop but decided to embrace the elements and had fun using umbrellas....

Lastly, this is what 10 looks like!! Cam's birthday was Wednesday and he shared his time with some pals........its sort of a "blonde hair only" club.....Cam's the one in RED! :)
I have to go....more vacation to tend to!
Enjoy!

Senior sessions!!

I'm in and out of the office this week trying to enjoy a vacation with my family. Its my first vacation in YEARS so forgive me for my absence. I've got some sessions scheduled as my calendar is crazy and I couldn't take the whole week off but intend to soak up this time with my family and friends in a care-free manner!

I had to get these sessions uploaded.....I know they are anxiously waiting to see how their photos are going to look.

First is Molly.....so lovely in personality and looks. She's an import from two states away! I photographed her cousin last year and was THRILLED she wanted me for this year! I hope she likes these two teaser shots....we got so many it was hard to decide which ones to blog about.

Molly & Ellen, thanks for calling on me!! It was great to see you again!!!

Next is Tyler......my neighbor......I'd like to say he had no choice....but yes, he did....I just made it enticing when I told his mom I'd photograph him with his first truck!!! My goal with this age is to stop time...I want Tyler to look back at his photos and think about how proud he felt about that truck and the work it took to get it! He actually let me ride with him...as we bounced through the fields and narrow branches....I was glad I didn't attempt it in my minivan!
Thanks Tyler for trusting me....I know boys don't have much fun with these sessions like the girls do! Cindy, I hope you like them....thanks for calling me!

Lastly is Lydia......a horse lover!! I had such a great time in this setting with so many elements for photographing....I can't wait for her parents to see her gallery and all the different shots I got. It was hard to choose which ones to show here!
Loved how the sun was kissing her cheek here.....she was laying in a field of tall grass......I'M LOVING FIELDS OF TALL GRASS!!
Enjoy the day - I will resume regular blogging soon.....I know you miss my Marleigh tales and the latest in the story of my life!!

Hey Amy, this one's for you!

Summer is just flyin' by......I believe today the temps will feel summer-like as I woke this morning to a warm, lovely (not), sticky feeling from the humidity the fan was blowing into my room. I'm running the AC now as humidity is NOT my friend!

Amy is mom to three super cute kids....she won an auction and chose a path around the local monestary to have her session. It was lovely, and besides the hungry mosquitos, it was a really fun time chasing the kids down the winding paths and out onto the marsh!

The baby, she called "Awesome" was busy and fun. He's not walking lots yet so we were able to keep him somewhat confined (good timing Amy). Older brother is in the phase where he really doesn't know how to smile on demand...which is perfect for my sessions as I love the goofy grins where they look a little lost cause when I ask them not to smile, the relaxed straight faces are totally charming in my opinion. Big sister has the BEST freckles and I told her so!! Sprinkled perfectly across her nose I couldn't help but grab lots of single shots of her.....I think Amy will like them!

I like how small they look on this big bench.....it won't always be that way...I just stopped time for a moment.

See.......freckles.....love them....
If you don't smile at the Awesome-ness of this grin....well, something's wrong with you!
Here's an all boy shot....he's standing on a stump, flexing his muscles surrounded by boats.

Sunset.....peaceful sunset.....I got this shot and said "its a wrap"!!
Thank you for choosing me, Amy!! It was great how we "clicked" as moms and I look forward to seeing you again!

I have more sessions to share as I get to editing them and I promise to share as I go!!
Enjoy!

Associate Wedding Photography

I was asked to stand in as an associate photographer at a wedding for my good friend Debbie Harmon as she was already booked this past weekend. I drove northeast towards Bar Harbor for a wedding in a town near there. I brought my family with me so they could experience some of the sights this touristy town offers (some of those photos later in the week).

Kalyn and Josh are so cute....and so in love! Both strong in faith, I loved this photo showing that..
...we took a non-traditional approach to the bride/groom in the church photos. I love this one!
This shot was taken at a restaurant that has a beautiful staircase. I moved above for this shot of her coming down it.
here is her beautiful bridal party....
We raced to the water's edge for a few coastal shots and the light fell so quickly, I was lucky to get this with blue skies behind them.....

The reception lighting was dramatic and though I used flash to light some of the dancing photos, I loved turning it off to show how the available light made them so romantic....
It was a beautiful day.....thank you Deb for choosing me to represent you....and thank you Kalyn and Josh for having me!!
Enjoy!

Amazing skies.......

You know when you go to a charity auction and you see all those wonderful handmade gifts, donations from businesses (specifically photographers giving packages that include a session and a print)....well, that's where this session came from! Stephanie was given the package as a gift....and the entire night was truly that! The skies were amazing.....I couldn't stop shooting! The kids were so good....the little guy ran and ran and it was a blast watching him have so much fun and big sis loves the camera (and I love her for that)!

I chose this first one to show because he was so cute as dad tried coaxing him to give him "five" but he wasn't going to get close enough to get caught (he's smart!)

see.....she's a beauty.....
...and a close-up of the little runner......cute too!!!!!

Here's a shot on the jetty.....a cute family....amazing skies....a great night!

I don't usually bring my family along on a shoot but because this was in a new spot and we were wrapping up an mini vacation, after much begging, I decided to cave and bring the kids along to this beach to see what treasures they might find. I got some neat shots that I might just share here later in the week!
I'll also be highlighting the wedding I did over the weekend.....I know the bride is anxious to see what I've got for her so once all the photos are put together, I'll choose some of my favorites and blog them!
I'm off to catch up!!
Enjoy!

Go back, go back, go back.......

Today is day two of sunshine...beautiful, drink-it-in kind of sunshine and temps near 80 inland. But....I'm going back to days of rain.....since we've had so much of it lately, I had to embrace it and try to see the positive.....

The kids just wore their bathing suits all day and played in the downpours as if they were sprinklers....

they continued to enjoy their summer Meemie days.....in the pool....hey, gonna get wet anyway! (this is my silly nephew Chase....who doesn't mind being in front of my camera!)

......and this is his good-looking older brother Scott.....he's got "cool" hair....

and my Cameron got a little chilly but didn't stop smiling at the fun they were having.....

A local church built an arc........it made me giggle each time I drove by in the pounding rain so I finally decided to stop so I could share it here.....I didn't get out of my car even though just as I got there, the rain slowed to a pitter-patter....it had been "driving" rain that day.
Recent Session:
Yesterday I had the honor of photographing this beautiful baby....born to two beautiful people (don't you love it when good people have babies and contribute to the goodness in this world of ours!) He's two months old and ran the show, that's why I try to rope them in before they are 14 days old and discover they actually have a say in what's going to happen during our time together. But we waited him out and he smiled and cooed sweetly.

My studio was chilly (to be expected after days of dark and gloomy weather) so mom wrapped him in a black blanket to warm him back to "pink". He looked so cozy and content....
....there's nothing like the look of a new mom holding her little miracle......

Laura, thanks for calling on me.....I loved our time together and your little man is lovely!!!!

Enjoy!!
